Most people use an age calculator for one number: how old am I? The free Age Calculator on InstantToolsPro does that, but it also works out your age on any date you choose, counts down to your next birthday, and finds the difference between any two dates. This guide walks through every feature with real examples, so you know which one to use and what the numbers mean.
All the screenshots use a dummy date of birth, 15 August 2000, and were taken on 28 October 2026. Your results will change with today's date.

Quick answer
Open the Age Calculator, pick your date of birth, press Calculate Age, and you get your exact age in years, months and days. Use the Calculate Age At field if you need your age on a different date, and the Date Difference tab if you need the gap between two dates.
The two modes
- Age Calculator: your exact age from a date of birth, plus extra results such as a birthday countdown.
- Date Difference: the gap between any two dates, with no birthday involved.
You switch between them with the two tabs at the top of the tool.
How to calculate your exact age
- Open the Age Calculator. The Age Calculator tab is selected by default.
- Choose your Date of Birth with the date picker.
- Leave Calculate Age At as it is. It starts with today's date.
- Press Calculate Age.

1: Date of Birth. 2: Calculate Age At, which starts with today's date. 3: the Calculate Age button.
What the results show
For a date of birth of 15 August 2000, the tool showed 26 years, 2 months and 13 days on 28 October 2026. We checked this by hand, and it is correct.

1: your exact age. 2: the weekday you were born on and your zodiac sign. 3: the live age counter.
- Exact age: years, months and days.
- Born on: the weekday of your birth date. For 15 August 2000 it shows Tuesday.
- Zodiac sign: a badge under the age. For that date it shows Leo.
- Live age counter: total days lived, plus hours, minutes and seconds that tick in real time.
- Life statistics: total days, weeks, months, hours and minutes. In our example that was 9,570 days, 1,367 weeks, 314 months, 2,29,680 hours and 1,37,80,800 minutes.
Find your age on a specific date
The second date field, Calculate Age At, lets you ask: how old was or will this person be on a certain day? This is useful for forms and notifications that give an age cut-off date.
Example: with a date of birth of 15 August 2000 and Calculate Age At set to 1 January 2026, the tool shows 25 years, 4 months and 17 days.
If you are checking age eligibility for a government exam, set Calculate Age At to the date written in the notification, not today's date. Always confirm the rule in the official notification. Our guide on the SSC CHSL and RRB NTPC age limits covers this in more detail.
Why the live counter and birthday countdown change
The live counter and the birthday countdown work only when Calculate Age At is today's date. If you pick another date, the tool shows the static result for that day. The counter stops ticking, and the birthday countdown shows N/A.
Birthday countdown, heartbeat and life progress
When Calculate Age At is today's date, you also get these sections.

1: the next birthday countdown. 2: the heartbeat estimate. 3: life progress.
- Next birthday countdown: days, hours, minutes and seconds until your next birthday. In our example it showed 290 days on 28 October 2026, counting down to 15 August 2027.
- Heartbeat estimation: an approximate count of heartbeats since birth, estimated at 70 beats per minute. In our example, that was about 96,46,56,000.
- Life progress: the share of an average lifespan you have lived. The tool uses 75 years as the average. In our example, that was 35 percent.
The heartbeat count and the life progress bar are rough estimates for fun. They use fixed averages (70 beats per minute and 75 years), so they are not medical information and do not predict anything about a person.
Your age on other planets
The tool also shows your age on three planets: Mercury, Mars and Jupiter. A year on each planet is the time it takes to orbit the sun, so the numbers differ from your age on Earth.

For our example date of birth, the tool showed 108.8 Mercury years, 13.9 Mars years and 2.2 Jupiter years.
How to find the difference between two dates
- Click the Date Difference tab.
- Choose a Start Date.
- Choose an End Date. It starts with today's date.
- Press Calculate Difference.

1: the Date Difference tab. 2 and 3: Start Date and End Date. 4: Calculate Difference. 5: the result.
We tried 1 January 2026 to 31 March 2026. The tool showed 0 years, 2 months and 30 days, which is a total of 89 days, 12 weeks and 2,136 hours.

1: total days. 2: the weekday of the start date (Thursday). 3: the difference in years, months and days.
The result is the usual date difference, end date minus start date. So, 1 January to 31 March is 89 days. If you want to count both the first and the last day, add one day yourself.
In this mode, the tool hides the birthday countdown, heartbeat, life progress and planet sections, because they only make sense for a date of birth.
Error messages and the Reset button
- If the date of birth is empty, the tool shows: Please select your date of birth.
- If the date of birth comes after the Calculate Age At date, it shows: Date of birth cannot be in the future.
- Reset clears the dates you entered and puts today's date back in the second date field.
Is my date of birth stored?
The age calculation runs in your browser. In the code of this tool page, we found no request that sends your date of birth to a server, and nothing that saves it in your browser.
Tips for accurate results
- Check the second date. If the live counter shows zeros, Calculate Age At is probably not today's date.
- Use the date in the notification when you check eligibility for an exam or a form.
- Double-check your date of birth. Mixing up day and month is the most common mistake, since the date picker uses your browser's format.
- Treat the fun results as estimates. Planet ages, heartbeats and life progress use fixed averages.
